She later joined a british military, allied with dutch forces against the french, this could have been during the nine years war or during the war of the Spanish Succession. Mary, fell in love with a flemish soldier, and they get married. She used their military commision to acquire an inn, that she named "The three horeseshoes" Unfortunately, her husband died young. She knew that life in the 1700s was much easier as a man that as a woman, so she reverted back to man's clothing and started her life over, going to sea on a Dutch merchand ship to the Caribbean. On one voyage, the ship was commandered by english pirates, she sailed and fought with them, until they accepted the king's pardon in 1718.
Some after, their ship was overtaken by the captain Jack Rackham, so Mary turned to her pirate life again. It's there where she met Anne Bonny, who was already part of Rackham's crew. She and Mary quickly discovered each other's cross-dressing secret and they became close friends. Mary found a lover on board and is said to have saved his life by protecting him from a duel.
Anne and Mary were known for thir violent tempers and ferocious fighing, and they shared a reputation as "fierce hell cats"
In october, when Rackham and his crow where arrested, she was pregnant and is said that she died of a violent fever, but the legend says that Mary managed to scape, stayed with the pirate booty, bought a ship and she still waiting Anne, because Mary never knew she died in prision.
