Pirates II: Mary Read

Mary Read was born (Illegitimately) at Plymouth, England, about 1690 Her mother's husband was a sea-faring man who left  on a long voyage and was never heard from again. Mary's mother began to disguise her as a boy after the death of Mary's legitimate brother Mark. This was done because she wanted to continue reciving financial support from his paternal grandmother. Still dressed like a boy, Mary found a work as a footboy, and later she found employement on a ship.
She later joined a british military, allied with dutch forces against the french, this could have been during the nine years war or during the war of the Spanish Succession. Mary, fell in love with a flemish soldier, and they get married. She used their military commision to acquire an inn, that she named "The three horeseshoes" Unfortunately, her husband died young. She knew that life in the 1700s was much easier as a man that as a woman, so she reverted back to man's clothing and started her life over, going to sea on a Dutch merchand ship to the Caribbean. On one voyage, the ship was commandered by english pirates, she sailed and fought with them, until they accepted the king's pardon in 1718.
Some after, their ship was overtaken by the captain Jack Rackham, so Mary turned to her pirate life again. It's there where she met Anne Bonny, who was already part of Rackham's crew. She and Mary quickly discovered each other's cross-dressing secret and they became close friends. Mary found a lover on board and is said to have saved his life by protecting him from a duel.
Anne and Mary were known for thir violent tempers and ferocious fighing, and they shared a reputation as "fierce hell cats"
In october, when Rackham and his crow where arrested, she was pregnant and is said that she died of a violent fever, but the legend says that Mary managed to scape, stayed with the pirate booty, bought a ship and she still waiting Anne, because Mary never knew she died in prision.

Pirates I: Anne Bonny

A couple of days ago, I writed about womans of history, but I didn't talk about my favourite two womans of history, my inspiration, my idols. Why I didn't talk about them? Because I thought I could do a whole post or even two posts about it

Anne Bonny and Mary Read are the most famous women pirates in history, and they are the only ones known to have plied their trade in the Western hemisphere.
Anne Bonny born in Ireland and she was the illegitimate daughter of William Cormac and his housemaid. They went to America after Anne's birth, and years later, she eloped with James Bonny against her father wishes. There is a story that she set fire to her father's plantation, but there isn't evidence that support it. James took her to a pirate's lair in the Bahamas, but in 1718, when Bahamian governor Woodes Rogers offered the king's pardon to any pirate, James turned informant. Anne was very disgusted with his cowardice and soon after, she met (And fell in love) with a swaggering pirate, the captain Jack Rackham. Disguising herself like a male, she began sailing with him on his sloop "Vanity" or "Revenge" (It's not known exactly).
It is reported that Anne became pregnant by Jack and she retired from piraty only long enough to have her child and leave it with friends in Cuba before rejoining him and her adventurous life on the seas.
In october 1720 they were attacked by a king's ship and most of Rackham's pirates didn't put up much resistence, because many of them were too drunk (Other sources indicate that it was night so most of them were sleeping)
Rackman and his crew were taken to Jamaica, where they were convicted and sentenced by the governor of Jamaica to be hanged. According to some sources, Bonny's last words to her captain were: "Sorry to see you there, but if you'd fought like a man, you wouldn't have been hang like a dog"
After being sentenced, Anne and Mary asked for mercy because they were pregnant and in accordance with english common law, both women recived a temporary stay of execution until their babies born. Unfortunately, she died in prision, probably from a fever, though it has been alleged that she died during the childbirth.

Vinaros

I live in Vinaros, a small city in the east of Spain. The city has changed a lot over the past fifty years.
In the past, the city was more boring, there used to be about a hundred cottages, little houses and farms, but there didn't use to be cinemas or discos and more important, they didn't use to celebrate Carnival.

People used to work in factories, small shops in the centre of the city and obviously, in the field and in the farms. Now they work in offices, shops...

People used to travel walking but some of them had cars and if they wanted to travel long distances, they used to use the train. Now they have buses, and other transports.

The city is now diferent but better. In my opinion, is a perfect city, because it is the city where I was born.

Bathilda

Bathilda Millicent Bulstrode is average height with short, brown hair and small, slanted brown eyes. Bathilda always wears dresses or short skirts. She loves wearing extravagant jewels like big earrings or coloured rings. She never wears tracksuits or trainers, but she always wears make-up.

Bathilda is really into romantic films but she hates science-fiction or adventure films.
She doesn't likes music (except when she goes to a party), she isn't into sports, board games or cooking eighter.
She is a big fan of fashion and she reads a lot of magazines about it. She loves critizing people and she is always competing to be the best at everytime.
Her favourite food is pizza and she loves peanuts but she doesn't likes pasta.
Her hobbie is shopping for clothes (She things it is a sport) And finally, she hates everything I like!
